It is not too late to catch up on your summer reading. You just need a book and quiet spot ! Two books I read were Raymie Nightingale by Kate Dicamillo and Pax by Sarah Pennypacker. Look for them in our class library. Let me know what you have been reading this summer!
I didn't get to read as many books as I hoped this summer. I did read Kneeknock Rise by Natalie Babbitt. Kenneth Oppel is one of my favorite authors. I read Silverwing, Sunwing, and Firewing, I am excited to reading his new book The Nest. It doesn't matter what you are reading, just read.
Hi 4th graders! I have been reading many new books this summer. Look for them in our classroom library. What have you been reading? Please share with me a book you read this summer. I read Flying Solo by Ralph Fletcher. I loved it! It is about a class that does not have a substitute one day and the students try to run the class on their own. I read Spider Ring by Andrew Harwell. If you like scary stories and spiders, this book is for you! A young girl inherits a ring from her grandmother and strange things begin to happen. I read Fuzzy Mud by Louis Sachar, the author who wrote Holes. The book kept me on the edge of my seat. Children discover they should not touch the strange mud growing in town.
This summer I decided to find some new authors to read and share with my class. I read Dana Reinhardt's book Odessa Again. It is a challenging book about a girl who finds a hole in her new bedroom. This magical spot sends Odessa back in time. She had an exciting adventure. I also read Rebecca Stead's book When You Reach Me . There were some great parts to this book but I did not love this book. It was also about time travel and mysterious letters. I think some of you will really enjoy this book. I look forward to hearing
January
As January comes to an end, it is time to start thinking and talking about great books. It is Book Talk time! Find a great book and share it with the class. In the past, I started reading books like Swindle and A Drowned Maiden because a student did a book talk on it. I remember how each one started with the line "this was the best book I have ever read so far". I knew I had to read them too! I can't wait to hear some new choices this year! Where has the summer gone????? I have been working in my classroom this week. The class library is all set up with new books from great authors! I read some of the 39 Clues books this summer and a new book by author Johanna Hurwitz. Look for them!!
Happy Summer! Summer school has ended and I am looking forward to a relaxing August. I am reading lots of great books that will be in the classroom library. See you September!
